Humar fastest 2WD driver in Velenje
Rally Velenje vas valid for FIA European Rally Cup and Mitropa Cup, Aleks Humar and Florjan Rus finished the event as fastest in 2WD classification and fifth overall.
This was the opening round of Slovenian Rally Championship and Oktan Sport used it for further preparation for the next events in FIA European Rally Championship. Aleks Humar and his co-driver Florjan Rus were again able to drive their Renault Clio R3T. It was their first outing with clio since september 2015 and therefore we are more than delighted with final result. Humar finished the rally as fifth fastest, second in Slovenian Rally Championship and fastest driver in 2wD class.
“I’m happy with our performance. I knew even before the start that it will be difficult to stay with the drivers in 4WD cars. We used first special stages also to get completely climatized with the clio that got some upgrades during the winter. In the second half of the rally we were able to push a little more and we also got some stages wins in Slovenian classification. Overall, we are satisfed and now we have to prepare ourselve for the Ypres Rally in Belgium,” said Humar in Velenje.
Humar with new car livery in Slovenian Rally Championship
Oktan Sport will support former Slovenian rally champion Aleks Humar in his bid to secure his fifth national title with renault clio R3T.
Slovenian rally championship starts this weekend with Rally Velenje that is valid also for Mitropa Cup and FIA rally trophy. We will support Aleks Humar and his co-driver Florjan Rus, one of the main candidates to clinch this year Slovenian overall national rally title. They will compete with their own renault clio R3T, a car they know already from last season. It will be first event for Humar with the clio after last year september.
“As we cooperate with Humar in Europen Rally Championship, we will upgrade this also in Slovenian rally Championship. It is important to get as many kilometres as possible before next ERC round in Belgium. We will support Humar with our technical and logistic expertise,” said Sašo Vusič, team manager of Oktan Sport before Rally Velenje.
Rally Opatija - Steep learning curve for Humar and peugeot 208 R2
Aleks Humar finished Rally Opatija in Croatia as fourth fastest 2WD driver and as second in R2 class. Rally that was also valid for Mitropa Cup was an important step to further prepare for following events in European Rally Championship.
This was only second true rally in peugeot 208 R2 for Aleks Humar. After soon retirement in Ireland, it was important to get as many milege as possible and to prepare for next event in ERC. Humar and his co-driver Jaka Cevc tried different setup options during the rally, but most importantly they just drove further special stages in a car that is still relatively new to them. Humar managed to win one stage in 2WD classification, but was hampered during the rally with a puncture and a small off.
Overall, Humar and Cevc finished the rally on eight place.
Lazslo Nemet: Miskolc Rally is a home event for me!
Lazslo Nemet and his co-driver Janosz Szego will drive the Oktan Sport peugeot 208 R2 at Rally Miskolc in Hungary.”
We are glad that in this year we can continue our cooperation with the Oktan Sport Team. We will compete in this year on 5 ERC events with the Peugeot 208 R2 and this is our main project. But we live in Miskolc so this is our home event in the Hungarian Rally Championship that is why we, me and my co-driver János Szegő decided to go here. We compete now with the Peugeot 208 R2 in the category with 6 rivals. But in the 2WD championship here are 17 competitors with BMW Z4M, M3, Nissan 350Z etc. We would like to do our best and we will try to fight for the podium in the 2WD too. But we have to go across 13 stages till the end 3 stages in the dark, so it will be a long way for us. It will be strange situation for me because my younger brother Gábor is also take part in this event in the same catgory with an Opel Adam R2. I also pray for a successful race for him and I hope that they can also reach the podium,” said Nemet before Miskolc Rally.
Hungarian driver had a very successul Rally Circuit of Ireland for ERC where he also achieved his first ERC3 stage victory of the season.
Fifth place and special stage victory in Ireland - happy!
Oktan Sport successfuly finished European Rally championship round in Ireland with Lazslo Nemet (peugeot 208 R2) in fifth place in ERC3 classification. Hungarian driver even managed to win one of the special stages.
Rally in Ireland was fast, demanding and very unpredictable. Everybody expected that second round of FIA European Rally Championship will be extremely hard and challenging. From the first kilometer drivers had to fight with their strength to drive near the limit on very fast and narrow Irish tarmac roads. Oktan Sport team was competing in Ireland with two peugeot 208 R2. Hungarian driver Lazslo Nemet had some technical problems, but he overcome them and went on with a constant drive. Eventhough he didn’t really push in second half of the rally, he managed to set best time on SS11. It was the first “scratch” for Oktan Sport and Nemet in FIA ERC championship 2016. Nemet and his codriver Janos Szego finished the rally on 5th place in ERC3 classification.
Unfortunately, second car of Aleks Humar and codriver Florjan Rus retired. Slovenian pair had an accident on qualifying stage, but team managed to repair the car before rally started. Because of the problem with one tire, Humar did not start the SS1 and retired from the rally.
Successful testing in Ireland for Humar and Nemet
Prior to event team was able to attend the official pre-rally test. Knowing that special stages in Ireland are very special and specific, every testing kilometer can help drivers to boost their confidence and car setup. Test was driven by both drivers Aleks Humar and Lazslo Nemet.
“Test in Northern Ireland was successful, we managed to get some impressions about the very special local roads. It will be difficult for sure, so far we didn’t drive on roads like these. We did about 30 km of testing, we made the setup and now we hope for the best,” said Humar, who finished 4th on the FIA ERC opening round on Gran Canaria.
Rally Circuit of Ireland will start on Thursday with shakedown and qualifying stage, real action starts on Friday. Rally will have 14 special stages in a total length of 209 kilometers.

4th place for Humar at ERC opening
European Rally Championship started with Rally Islas Canarias at Gran Canaria. Aleks Humar and his co-driver Florjan Rus finished fourth in ERC3 classification on their FIA ERC debut.
Although he is four time rally champion in Slovenia, Aleks Humar is a new face in FIA European Rally Championship. He joined team Oktan Sport for season 2016 and started his campaign already at season opener. He finished fourth in ERC3 classification. That was a solid result for the opening round, where he was learning his new peugeot 208 R2 from Oktan Sport team.
“It was my first rally after almost six months and first real drive in peugeot 208 R2. We just did a short test before the rally. Many things are new for us this year, but we managed to learn fast on Gran Canaria and we will get better and better,” said Humar after the rally finished.
Next event for him and co-driver Rus will be at the second ERC round in Northern Ireland.
